The selectors are delighted with the immediate impact Craig has made both in 50-over and T20 cricket and his excellent performances at the top of the order in the Caribbean were a key factor in England winning the ICC World T20 competition.

Craig Kieswetter has been rewarded for the outstanding start to his international career with England awarding him an incremental contract following his performances for the one-day and Twenty20 side.

The Somerset wicketkeeper-batsman, who won man-of-the-match in the ICC World Twenty20 triumph over Australia after hitting 63 off 49 balls, was awarded the contract on his return from the Caribbean with the rest of England’s triumphant squad.

Kieswetter qualifies after playing three one-day internationals in Bangladesh and seven Twenty20 internationals during the recent tournament, with non-contracted players being awarded an England contract through a points system.

Five points are awarded for a Test appearance and two for a T20 or ODI appearance, with an increment contract being awarded automatically once the player reaches 20 points during the 12-month contract period.

"The selectors are delight with the immediate impact Craig has made both in 50-over and T20 cricket and his excellent performances at the top of the order in the Caribbean were a key factor in England winning the ICC World T20 competition," said Hugh Morris, the England and Wales Cricket Board’s managing director.
