Jos Buttler demonstrated his growing potential by hitting his maiden first class century in only his fourth game for Somerset against Hampshire.
Deputising as wicketkeeper-batsman while Craig Kieswetter, his Somerset and ISM colleague, is away on England duty at the ICC World Twenty20 tournament, Buttler reached the milestone on the third day at the Rose Bowl.
Entering the game with a previous highest first class score of 36, Buttler drove powerfully throughout his innings and brought up his century in the final over of the day to help Somerset reach 441 for six in reply to Hampshire’s 512.
He reached the milestone with his 11th four, which was hit off his long-time friend and fellow ISM stablemate James Vince, having previously hit a six earlier in his innings off Liam Dawson.
