As the teams head for Barbados, it is 1-1 and all to play for in the five match One Day Series. England are somewhat luckily still in the contest due to the West Indies coach, John Dyson reading the wrong line on a Duckworth-Lewis sheet and hauling his players off when they were in fact behind the run rate, thus gifting England their first win of the winter.
When England get to Barbados they will hopefully find a wicket with a bit more bounce and therefore probably better suited to the way we try and play our cricket. With not so many power hitters of the cricket ball it will be easier for our players to use the pace off the wicket rather than having to force the play on slow, low wickets that they have encountered for much of the winter.
Our batting line up looks still quite brittle, but the team should be bolstered this weekend by the return of the team's premier all-rounder, Andrew Flintoff, who looks like being available again having not played any cricket since the Antigua Test match. As usual his return will bolster the confidence of the team which looks, understandably after the winter they have had, very low.
Captain, Andrew Strauss played another fine innings in the second One Day game and really if somebody bats through the innings to score 100 plus, then England should be in a good position to knock off scores of around 260. He needed one telling contribution from one of the other batsmen which unfortunately was not forthcoming.
James Anderson, again, has been the pick of the bowling attack, it is great to see him recapturing the form that he had when he first appeared on the international stage, again the introduction of Flintoff should help him and the other bowlers perform as a more complete unit in their next three games.
If England perform to the best of their ability then I am sure we will have something to shout about over the next few days.
