Pace, control and aggression were all back for big Steve.

Steve Harmison & Kevin PietersenKevin Pietersen started his reign as the full time cricket captain with an emphatic display at The Oval.  His first win coincided with a dramatic return to the Test scene for Steve Harmison who showed that his pace, control and aggression were all back for big Steve on the back of a summer of very hard work with his county, Durham where he has already bowled over 800 competitive overs.

James Anderson continued his excellent form with pace and swing and his eye catching first over of the South African's second innings when he bamboozled Graeme Smith will long live in the memory.  It was great to see Fred complete the win with a little bit of classic Flintoff batting and that sets the England team up what will be a fascinating One Day Series.

England play Scotland on Monday before the Twenty20 international at Durham and then five One Day Internationals finishing on the 3rd September at Cardiff.  It promises to be exciting and I think England will give the South African's a real run for their money as there is so much to play for!!
